Our story

A bottle designed by a mom who wouldn’t give up

Minbie began with one question from our founder Julia: why should giving your baby a bottle mean giving up on breastfeeding?

Julia is a designer, mother and grandmother. She set out to make a bottle nipple that works with a baby’s instinctive breastfeeding motion instead of against it. Every contour had to have a purpose, and that thinking led to Minbie’s patented nipple.

Meet the founders

A mother and son, and a family business

Minbie was founded in Melbourne, Australia by mother-and-son team Julia and Torquhil. What started as a determination to solve one feeding problem has grown into a brand trusted by hundreds of thousands of families around the world.

We’re still family owned and family run. Julia’s own granddaughters grew up with Minbie, and every product still has to pass the same test: would we give it to our own family?

How Minbie came to be

From a feeding problem to a patented solution

  1. The problem

Breastfed babies often refuse bottles, or start preferring the easier flow of a conventional nipple. Parents were stuck choosing between sharing feeds and protecting breastfeeding.

  2. The design

Julia studied how babies latch and feed at the breast, then designed a nipple around it: latching surfaces, a streamlined bulge, tip contours and a palate-friendly shape.

  3. The patent

The result was patented and recognized with design awards, then joined by an orthodontic pacifier designed with the same care for growing mouths.

  4. Today

More than 400,000 parents have used Minbie to share feeds, return to work and keep breastfeeding for as long as they choose.

  • Room for real lifeA partner’s turn, a first day back at work, or a night of sleep. Sharing feeds should be easy.
  • No guilt, no pressureBreastfeed, bottle-feed, combine or switch. Every family deserves practical support.

★★★★★Back to the breast
“My baby took to it straight away and went back to the breast after, so Dad and others can now help with the many feeds a newborn needs.”

★★★★★Reflux & colic
“My baby has very bad reflux and colic, and I was dreading going back to work because she struggled to keep a bottle down. Minbie was the only bottle that actually slowed her down so she could keep everything down. It hasn’t affected our breastfeeding either.”
Angela M. Verified buyer · Newborn PPSU Bundle
★★★★★The only one she’ll take
“We tried 4 different brands of pacifiers, big brands and aesthetic ones, and the koala is the only one she’ll take. I have no difficulty breastfeeding her. We don’t go anywhere without it!”
